Tamur River

No expedition to Nepal would be complete without a trek in the Himalayas and its no accident the one of the worlds finest rivers starts with one of Nepal ‘s most scenic treks. Our 4-day trekking route follows a 3000-meter ridge through beautiful woods and meadows with magnificent views of Kanchenjunga, Makalu and the Everest mastiff, before dropping into the lush villages of the Tamur valley. A truly memorable approach to this classic Himalayan white water descent.

Probably the best combination trip in Nepal- magnificent white water, a beautiful un-spoilt valley, combined with one of the most scenic treks in Nepal.

Rafters

Rafters need no previous experience.

Kayaking

This is the perfect river for expert kayakers, containing continuous class 4 rapids, class 4 + drops, epic surfing and hole riding. Experienced safety kayakers accompany each trip offering advice on rapids. An excellent roll is a prerequisite.

A Pre-departure meeting is held the evening prior to your departure at our Kathmandu sales office, 6pm.

DAY 01: 6.30 am meet at Equator Sales Office – store extra luggage. Breakfast, (not included). Fly KTM- Biratnagar. Drive Biratnagar – Basantapur 6 hours – Camp.

DAY 02-05: Organize porters and begin trek to Dobhan. Days are long and the trail can be difficult in places, this is a real expedition! Porters will carry personal gear bags and Sherpas will guide the way. Expedition members are responsible for a daypack with a warm set of cloths, water bottle and camera. Camp is an extravagant affair with Sherpa cook teams preparing a well-deserved meal.

DAY 06: Unload gear – load rafts. Safety briefing – the white water action begins. Continuous class 4 white water.

DAY 07: Descending rapids in the upper gorges of the Tamur.

DAY 08: Rest day. Time to enjoy the natural surroundings of beach life in Nepal, or trek to a local village.

DAY 09: The action continues with more of the Tamur’s spectacular white water.

DAY 10: A relaxing day taking in local river life as we float through wooded valleys, past small Hamlets and the fishermen. The guides consider day ten the calm before the storm!

DAY 11: The final day on the Tamur is considered, “one of the finest river days in the world” by white water experts. Continuous class IV and IV+ rapids define the reason for the Tamur’s reputation as one of Nepal’s finest river / trek combinations. We end the journey in Chatra. Flight from Biratnagar or drive to KTM

DAY 12: Arrive KTM.
